If I were you I would steer well clear of Hoist machines.......
We look after a couple of 15 ton machines and a 9 ton Titan and u dread it when parts are needed........I just had to get a wheel cylinder for a Titan and it was about 300, when I got it I matched it up and could get one for about 25!
It is also quite common for hoist to obsolete parts for machines which are only 10 years old, not what you want to here when you have a machine that was 130k when new.
Our customer who runs 2 15 ton machines has asked us to source an alternative compact machine as they want rid of them.......

Best advice I can give is don't expect any type of factory technicial support, parts take forever to arrive and buy LOT's of floor dry or find a huge peice of cardboard to park it on when it's not moving.

All the ones I've had the pleasure of working on have been TRAGIC from new, the masts seem to be made from window putty!

since this conversation I researched hoist and it seems as though the models I currently service have been discontinued and replaced with fancy toys. no more big block v8 powered units.

I never said all components can be sourced locally, look up, I said most. and this is true for the older fks. and I do not change my statements, I would buy a 90s era FKS if I needed a larger cushion tire unit. to each there own.

Simply look to the ports world wide for your answer. You won't find the 24 / 7 users running Hoists. The mantra that "all components can be locally sourced." is BS One user in my area bought a new 115,000 lb unit and it went down for a month shortly after delivery due to a steering / hydraulic issue.

Hi Stam cant comment on the FKS so it looks that maybe they do make a decent machine now lol. But the Titan really was a nightmare the site we lost we lost to a competitor who told the customer it was all the fault of the supplying dealer and they wouldn't have the same probs they fared worse than we did lol they lost the customer back to us and we ended up replacing the fleet with H12.00 hysters. The cracking masts they failed on the cross ties but also on the mount welds they weren't over loaded the loads were a max of 5 tonnes but quiet large so needed a min of 9 tonne capacity to lift we even tried 12 tonne capacity trucks and the still failed we never supplied another hoist after that

wow sounds like a p-o-s.

i have a fleet of FKS's i look after and honestly, i would buy one if i was in the market. they range from 23K - 60K Lb cap all v8 powered but one 6 cyl. turbo diesel. they take a beating, the floors are badly damaged. the same client also has yale/hyster trucks and they require more attention than the hoists but also are used more.

i have had a cross tie weld crack but the trucks are overloaded repeatedly and also used as battering rams at times so a mfg. defect never came to mind.

can i change my statement of hoist the forklift to hoist model fks? lol

Unless things have drastickly improved i would never call a hoist exceptional i did a lot of work on them particularly the FKE which i found not too bad and the Titan which was a complete disaster. We had tilt cylinders snapping regulary complete brake failures hub reduction units failing on nearly a monthly basis regular transmission failures common cooling faults on the V6 it was nearly impossible to stop them overheating Masts snapping Hoist came up with a new stronger masts and these all failed too, and don't get me started o the service times lol. Parts back up 12 weeks for brake shoes not good at all I ended up with a bigger service van just so i could attempt to keep them in service. These trucks lost us a big long established customer. Yes the components are the same as other machines Gm engines etc but they were really badly put together never want to see one
again let alone work on one!!!

imo:
hoist the company - ?
hoist parts dept - my required items are usually backordered.
hoist the forklift - exceptional.

keep in mind most of the core components in these trucks come from the industrial sector and if you look for parts from other sources you can usually find what you need local.
