Can anyone/everyone please give me their advice on the pro's and con's of high level order pickers and what they think are the best brands. Cheers.

I am looking at second hand units as well, but I need two and want them to be the same machine. I will research these machines. I haven't come across these in my searches.I am familar with the brands, but have not come across that model. So thank you very much. Daze.
If you could pick one up second hand, Id go for a Dambach combi(not sure if Atlet still sell them though), they were sold by Jungheinrich as ETX150s but dont touch the newer hercules one with a pointy stick....

That's not a concern. The aisles are not narrow, reach trucks woek in there to. It's the reliability I want to enquire about. If they have particular recurring problems specific to any of the trucks. But thank you for your input. Kind regards, Daisy. Have a great day.
If you are looking at VNA equipment, make certain you have more than one unit in your plans for the following reasons:
1. If a unit goes down you still can operate at 1/2 efficency. If you have only one & it goes down - big problem.
2. Rental units are unlikely to be available from your local distibutor.
3. No other piece of equipment will work in an aisle set up around a VNA type machine.

Have you any idea how they compare to crown? When you chose the raymond, were there any specific benefits that made raymond a better option than other pickers?

the new a/c raymond is a great unit we have 3 working great for 2 years low maintence
Crown seems to be the concensus. Everything I have enquired about, people across the globe recommend crown. Don't hear much about BT / Raymond products.

HLOP in a VNA set up affords you aisles of 1.2m to 1.5m therefore you gain more storage and you can access more SKUs/pick faces. That is a big advantage of the HLOP as opposed to mid/low level pickers. In some warehouses this overriding factor is enough to drive warehouse managers to go in that direction because the compromise is you will need a new warehouse extension or off-site storage.
However your throughput suffers because you are going higher up. So it is a compromise. What can you live with and what can you give away.
Also in a VNA you will not be able to use a forklift or reach truck if you want to putaway full pallets. You will probably need a turret truck.
