Linde have a hydrostatic drive in their big trucks up to 18 tonnes capacity. Nice, once you are used to it. Service costs are low as a consequence.

hello Youngster,
as an operator i can recommend you the smv (konecranes) they really have the controls sorted out !
just a little short of legroom in the cab (but quite a capable and stable machine really.
they also have a surge tank build in the engine bay so its safe for a change over shift to check the radiator levels while the while engine is hot
as youre in the uk , i suggest you take the one with the wiper interval,as it,s really handy.
another brand to look at might be a hyster.
i hope this is of some help.

Yes,generally you are right. The Defence ministry always will chose the lowest price but the goods must correspond to the military specifications and they are extremely high compared to the civilian. They have only one requirement- The truck must work-any time, any weather,any.....

Remember the Defense Ministry or Departments of Defense award contract to the lowest bidder unless tehy have "inside" friends. Low price & good quality / reliability are not necessary compatible.

I know your deepest secret fear...
J.M.
Last place I worked at was a steel mill, coil and bar stock and the buyer I replaced had a file cabinet full or past invoices for repairs. After looking at them for weeks it was a combination of abuse (30%) and the wrong truck for the application. Looked at what my industry was using and contacted Taylor and took a plant tour in Mississippi and was overwhelmed at the quality of the product and employees. Taylor was the right truck for our application and we bought
seven 36,000 pound trucks. It all depends on the application, ours was extreme and was killing our other 36,000 pound trucks who's name I won't say for the fact they are a good trucks for there application. Use your head and do your homework and NETWORK with the right people.

Thanks,
Ray
