Toyota 7FGCU25:
Gear oil leak from axle.

I have a Toyota 7FGCU25 that has started to leak gear oil from the rubber fill plug. It is still soft to the touch but it will spin easy in the hole. Has anyone had this happen to them? I have had this lift sense new and have never had a leak from the plug. I am getting a new plug but was just curious if some one has had the same thing happen.

Yes, the rubber will deteriorate over a long time.
It helps if you DO NOT try to keep the diff oil level completely up to the edge of the check hole. About 1/4" below the edge of the check hole is plenty sufficient.
Due to the close proximity of the ring gear to the hole, there is actually quite a bit of "wake turbulence" of oil thrashing against the plug.
You should see what happens if the plug comes out while the truck is in use.
