it will not shut off, we have no books or wiring diagrams for this. Tried pulling fuses and relays. I choke the air off to get it to shut off.

the only way i can get OEM is to specifically request it when placing the order.
i do alot of work on aerial lifts and it is imperative to use OEM oarts on those machines, i can't seem to get this through thier heads because they are always trying to give me aftermarket junk. I have to put OEM part only every time i order parts usually.
i've had too many aftermarket part failures for my liking so i just tell them OEM.
I got the forklift back in the shop checked for power and ground both were present solenoid does not click, I suspect it has failed. I will order a new one preferably a OEM one and report back.

with something like that i would go with OEM
aftermarket parts (especially electrical parts like starters and solenoids etc) just arent made well and fail sooner
OEM may cost more but they usually are made better, last longer
like the old saying goes 'you get what you pay for' ;o)
did you use OEM replacement part or aftermarket part?
Well came in this morning and used the fork lift now it won't shut off again it was good for a week, haven't checked anything yet.

While the solenoid was clicking,I replaced the solenoid it corrected the problem and the forklift shuts off. I bench tested the old one and it seem to work so I suspect the piston was worn and not closing off the fuel like a bad needle and seat on a gas engine. Thanks for the help.
ok so you verified it works with it removed
the problem with checking it while hooked up is that you will probably get a 0 volt reading, disconnect it and check the harness side (not the solenoid) and see if it is getting battery volts. If not then you will have to back trace the circuit through the harness till you find the issue. Check all the harness connectors for corrosion etc, if you run across any relays or circuit breakers check them as well.
Everything usually sprouts out from the fuse panel so since you did not find any issues there it is probably between the fuse panel and the solenoid somewhere.
But the fact that it seemingly is running without the solenoid working properly tells me there is still something wrong with that solenoid, the plunger or something.
I removed the solenoid checked it with power it pulled in I have already checked all the fuses.
the solenoid on the injection pump IS the fuel shutoff
pull it out and you will probably find it stuck like was mentioned earlier or a broken spring or something.
and when your checking for solenoid operation, when you turn on the key it should click, you should get voltage.
the fact the engine will crank and run with that not working (because you said earlier it has no voltage on it with key on) means it has to be defective.
check your fuses and see if any are blown, look around the steer column and under dash area and see if you can find any relays. that solenoid should be powered on when key is turned on.
and FYI... when you pull the solenoid out you may get some fuel running out, if this happens you may have to bleed it afterwards to get it to pull fuel again once you figure out this is the problem and get a new one installed. Most diesels don't like air in them and will not start if this happens.
Choking off the air.Where is the fuel shut off,there is a solenoid on the pump but I don't think it is the shut off. I don't see anything else?

if the fuel shutoff has no voltage the engine should not run
and on top of that since you say the engine will not shut off how are you shutting it down?
