I am new to the forum but not new to the Forklift business. We own 5 Hyster 15,500 Lbs, 3 Mitsubishi 5000 Lbs, a Versalift 25/35 and a Peterbilt 379 tilt up truck. We use our forklifts only for moving heavy machinery and they are well maintained and only our employees use them. All bought all of them new in the past 7 years. (We buy one or two a year and use rule 179 for depreciation, instead of paying taxes which is perfectly legal)
This year we had good amount of business. We are contemplating or planning to buy multiple forklifts & scissor lifts and start a rental division either in Orlando FL or Southern New Jersey.
What do you think and please comment?
1. Good Idea
2. No way, its a bad idea
3. Market is over crowded
4. Very difficult to make money
5. Good business due to online warehousing
6. Good Business. A Lot of hard work
7. Easy Money
We received a very attractive price from a Chinese company for their forklifts. Less than a $1.00 Million $$ for about 30 forklifts and 20 Scissor lifts.
Which is the best brands that I should go with?
Toyota
Hyster
Mitsubishi
UniCarriers
Hangcha
Heli
Linde
Doosan / Hyundai

I don't really agree with you. From my perspective, it's better to buy the equipment rather than renting it. For instance, when I opened my construction business a long time ago. I purchased the forklifts with the help of the guys from https://anguslifttrucks.co.uk/forklift-sales-uk/. So those that want to start developing something in this industry. I will suggest speaking with this company or if you wish to with a similar company that offers these types of services. Wish you guys a blissful day.
Tell everyone, I'm also interested
Toyota, hysteroe Mit. Do you plan to do service? IE breakdowns in the middle of the night, how do you plan to address customer abuse and damage,. I know here in texas there are warped souls that lay awake at night figuring out ways to stick it to rental companys and anybody they come in contact with in the industry.

No way, its a bad idea !
I think big companies or businesses already have their pay limits. If their needs are high they have bought it for themselves.
I have been doing this service in Vietnam and Australia for some time. Things were not as I thought. Then I switched to trucks.
Toyota is expensive to buy parts for, and you need their tech to access codes or make changes. Unicarrier is most friendly to access. It is basically a Nissan, with Cat and Mitsu mixed in. Under the hood, they are all the same, so aftermarket parts are readily available. Hyundai is also very user friendly, and comes with very good warranty. Stay away from Chinese brands at low cost. The parts are incredibly expensive and take forever to get. All unicarrier and Hyundai parts are readily available in the USA.
We are a lease turning facility that has many of the units you are inquiring about. The turned in TOYOTA's seem to be the trucks that have required the least amount of time to repair. We have many trucks that come from different companies everywhere and the bottom line is how they were maintained is what has been the deciding factor in the secondary used market. hope this helps
Thanks Just sent you a email.
Email me and I'll give you my perspective on the some brands.
