We have a Crown Wave 84 and need a fault code, the 4 lights on the far right side of the display are lit, if I am interpreting them right this would be code 15 (1+2+4+8), correct? Can anyone tell me what code 15 is referring to?
The unit raises up about a foot, stops, and gives the code. When you turn the key off and back on the self check seems OK, then when you try to raise it goes up about another foot and throws the same code. Subsequent off-on cycles give the same effect.
Thanks for any help.

Reference the original problem with the unit shutting down when the platform was raising. Surprised no one said anything about the gates have to be shut or it won't raise any further. If gates are shut then I would think that the gates switches should be checked. The smoking motor is a whole different deal. Just a thought !!
Hi did you get a response for this I have the same fault. I have the wav50-84 stuck by an operator but I have no smoking on mine only 16, 8 on the lights
can I have the address to buy a manual please online now?
The company here we have bought these second hand and they came with no manuals or fault codes listings, appreciate you felt the need to edit my communication. However I am happy to pay for this and no where have I found this yet.
It is a strange problem indeed, what has the local tech stumped is that the motor should not be getting any power when the cart is stationary so why is it getting power and smoking then, and why does it not smoke and work fine when driving? Once we get the tech here to check it out hopefully we'll know why, at this point I have gone as far as I can with my limited knowledge of this truck.
If it was me, I would just replace the drive motor assy (including the brakes) in that side. these motors and brake assy do not last all that long in the best of conditions.
I think it is not correct to say that with the unit not moving that "there would be no voltage at the wheel drive motor". The motor is still connected via the controller and if it or the brakes had an open circuit, the controller would notice and shut down, so there must be some continual complete circuit to the drive motor and brakes.
Why there is enough power to create smoke is a slightly different question.
well that is a strange problem then
but no matter, if there is smoke comming out of the drive motor it will have to be removed and opened up to see whats going on in there. Maybe when you see that you can determine why and what is causing it from there.
If the crown guys are stumped then it must not be a common problem.
just checked manual, there is no code 15
and i don't have CPG011
will check database on monday
check for a short to frame
measure between bat + and frame when raising
then measure between bat - and frame when raising
also check the kys input to traction controller for a voltage drop, you may have a worn /damaged mast cable
and blow dust out of drive motors as may be completing circuit to frame
The hydraulic pump motor up front is fine, no smoke there. Actually it is the left wheel drive motor that smokes, but only when cart is stationary and platform is raised. It is fine while driving. I don't understand this, at least logically the motor should not be getting any power to it when not driving. The smoke comes out from where the motor power cables go into the motor housing through a grommet, so definitely coming from inside the motor. Talked to our local Crown service tech by phone, he is stumped thus far and needs to come out to see in person.
if it only smokes when your using the hydraulic motor then the motor or the cables associated with it are the problem. The smoke might just be getting blown out around where the drive motor is and so it just looks that way.
But yes if your seeing smoke stop using it!
Call a service tech to come look at it before any further damage is done.
Remember... where theres smoke there is usually fire, if not right at first it will be if you keep running it. ;o)
My guess is something is loose such as a connection on a cable or inside the pump motor.
Thank you MEngr and crownie for your replies.
I'm a user, not a forklift tech, and while I have mechanical (Automotove) skills I do not have the service manuals or scanner for this. What I did do is check and clean all electrical connections, battery voltage is 25 at rest, drops to 23.5 when raising a 225 pound person until it shuts off after a few feet. So it seems as if voltage is OK.
However one interesting thing I just found is that when raising the platform smoke comes out of the left drive wheel motor where the power cables go into the motor housing. That cannot be good. Interestingly motor brushes are in spec, commutator looks OK and it does not smoke when driving and drives OK.
When the cart is stationary and the platform is raising I would think there would be no voltage at the wheel drive motor so why is it smoking then and not when it is powered up and driving? Time to call our dealer for a service call I think.....
I'll post again with what the ultimate problem/solution is in case it helps others.
Hi crownie;
Were in the technical documentation are you seeing the fault 15 being described. I am seeing faults 8 and 16 only.
too lazy to look up F15
measure your batteries whilst raising
sounds like battery collapsing under load
Hi germanautoparts;
Product Information Bulletin "CPG011" is I believe what is in reference to the issue you are seeing. BDI lights 1, 2, 4, & 8 are on. The battery discharge indicator is not resetting. This issue is more than likely attributed to a voltage drop in the key switch circuit between ED-A and CA401-1. Use the Curtis handset or voltmeter to verify.
