Discussion:
Event Code 216 Tilt Sol open ext circuit

I have an RD5200SAC here with kind of a strange one. Truck is faulting 216 and drops to limp travel and cuts out accessories. If I cycle power to reset, all functions (including tilt) work perfectly. As soon as you move the MTC to travel fwd or rev it throws the 216 code and limps. And I mean just moving the MTC in the slightest FWD/Rev!

Going through the troubleshooting steps, the solenoid checks out good. I even went as far as swapping the wires with the sideshift solenoid and testing and 216 still came up (if the solenoid was bad I would expect it to have changed to a 215).

When I hook my meter in line with the tilt solenoid. I see about 20 v when tilting back and fwd. Zero volts at rest. When I move the MTC to fwd or rev slightly I'll see a jump to about 18 v then the truck faults and the voltage stays at 18 v until I cycle power again.

The only other thing is Access 3 is flashing the 216 rather than access 2.

Thanks!

It's all just nuts n' bolts.

Yes, I ended up finding it last week after I posted this. BUT... this machine has the TPA option which adds a 5 conductor up the left side of mast. It had been rubbing on the spreader bar at the top of the mast screen. Not fully shorted, just enough to cause an issue depending on position of the mast staging and pull on the cable/spring. Rolled in a new cable and all good now! Thanks!

Mast cable may have a short, right hand side where it goes through a tube, check it has not rubbed through insulation
