Cat Lift Trucks (& Caterpillar) E6000:
E6000 contractors not staying closed.

Hi all. I'm stumped on this E6000 I'm working on. You sit on machine, turn key on and contactor closes then opens right back up. How do I get the codes out of this machine? When contactor closes, you can travel or lift for a split second but it does not seem that power steering kicks in at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Problem:
Battery Voltage Too High (79)

Possible Causes:
Faulty or highly charged battery, high voltage battery, improper battery voltage setting (Setup Option #41),
improper battery voltage adjustment setting (Setup Option #46), faulty logic unit.

check the settings in the logic setup

Swoop, found continuity at all points listed above. Installed another logic module and have code 79 on dash. Any ideas? Thank you.

Swoop. Been over to this machine this morning. I had the tps unhooked so that took care of that code. I had 65.7 ohms at coil. All continuity checks good except for the j4-1, j11, and j6 as I cannot find anything labeled that way. Where are these located? Thank you very much!

P.S., I noticed with the cover off the logic box, the power card led stays lit up and the logic card led blinks.

ok here are what the codes mean

code 41
Steering Contactor Fault

check the contactor and make sure it is good, good tips and good coil resistance
(44ohms to 65ohms)
- if out of range replace contactor assembly

- if within range
disconnect connectors P5, P8 and P19
check continuity between P8-14(10A) and P19-4(10B)
check continuity between P19-4(10B) and J4-1
check continuity between P5-61(31) and P19-6(31)
check continuity between P19-6(31) and J6
check continuity between P5-55(48) and P19-11(48)
check continuity between P19-11(48) and J11

if you have no continuity on any of those circuits repair harness
if you do have continuity on these circuits replace the logic card of the logic unit.

code 51
Accelerator Sensor Fault

check the linkage and make sure it is ok, not worn
then you can check voltages:

disconnect connectors P4 and P3 of logic unit
disconnect connector P9 of accelerator sensor

check continuity between P3-20 and P9-3(29)
if continuity yes -
check continuity between P4-42 and P9-2(15)
if continuity yes -
check continuity between P3-24 and P9-4(56)
check continuity between P3-25 and P9-1(28)
if continuity yes -
replace accelerator pedal
if fault remains
replace logic card of logic unit

If any continuity checks fail then repair any harness associated with the circuit wiring that failed.

Hope this helps

Hi Swoop. Serial#A4EC380227. It flashes a 51 then a 41 at startup. Thank you for any help!

Hi Swoop, thanks for the reply. I will get the serial number posted in an hour or so, I have to get back to my truck. It shows a 51 and a 41 on display once you turn it on? I usually stick with IC engines, these electrics are kind of new to me.

any errors should come up on the display if there is a problem during startup causing the contactor to open back up.
got a serial number for this truck?
