Should be a F-163 Continental.
Can you tell me the engine in the Hyster S40C. I have a faulty distributor and looking to replace it (Delco-Remy 6 L16)
i agree with mark l, plumber you'll find with these old girls its generally a head gasket thats gone, been a few years since ive seen one but 9 times out of ten they blow the head gasket between the cylinders.
Plumber, Is it smoking at all? Those little continental engines are pretty resiluant and relatively inexpensive to repalce. Before you go to the expense of a engine make sure you dont have a head gasket problem. Is compression down on just the one cylinder? Those little engines love to blow head gaskets between the cylinders and between the distributor hole which separates the 2 and 3 cylinders.
