Linde (& Baker) E14:
Cutting out - was intermittent, now permanent fault

Hi. We have a 1996 Lancing Linde E14 forklift, which a couple of times has made a short fizzing noise (less than a second) and then cuts out. The noise seems to come from the front end. Previously we have left it with the power disconnected for a while, and when we tried it again it was ok. However, it has done it again this afternoon, and although the power comes back if you leave it for a while, as soon as you touch any of the controls, it makes the abrupt fizzing noise and goes dead. I understand how vehicles with petrol engines work, but electric is new to me! I'd really appreciate any advice.

Got an engineer out to look at it, and it would seem that a poor connection on one of the battery terminals was preventing it from charging properly.

Just tried it again with the floor panel off, and it's a clicking noise coming from somewhere under the floor/front end. I sounds like a trip switch or relay, but I can't see anything obvious. Any ideas?
