I'm definitely in agreement with you both.i will be keeping an eye and laser temp gun on this one when the new tire is installed. Trying to get warranty in a situation like this is tough. Thanks for the logical input.
i'm with brewski on this one
not the first time i've seen bad bonding on a tire, seen it happen a few times in my career.
being a non-marking tire they are going to get warm even in the best conditions but the bond shouldn't come apart even then.
I would think you would have other issues if the problem was in the differential. Buy the time the heat is transferred to the tire you should be seeing smoke coming out of the differential breathers. Usually the non marking tires have a higher rolling resistance than black. You might just have gotten a bad batch of tires.
The tires were the non marking grey made by Solid Deal. Have been using the same brand for at least 4 years. I feel the heat is coming from the differential. This diff has internal disc brakes in oil. Just wandering if any of the Hyster dealer guys have ran into a heat problem with this model? Two new tires separating in 5-6 days on the same side of the same unit, just hard to think it's the tires. When we get a good tire installed, we can monitor th temperature and try to figure out why.
i wonder what type of tire they put on it?
the compound plays a huge part on how the tire performs.
If its too soft it can do exactly what you describe.
Too much drag caused by a soft tire can make it heat up, especially if you make long runs or are carrying heavy loads for long distances.
I would check the factory specs on the truck on the tires and see if the right tire was put on the truck.
I've ran across this alot in the past when customers buy a cheaper tire trying to save money and wind up with problems like this.
In the end its just not worth the headache to try and save money when getting the correct tire would save alot of trouble.
Of course it could just be a bad tire.
if the brakes are not dragging then it has to be a tire issue.
Make them replace it if possible, they are not supposed to separate, it would have to be getting extremely hot to cause this that quickly. Now if the wrong tire was put on because of a decision made by your company then of course they would not want to cover it.
