33025 is generally a nuisance code or a false lead. The description is VSM to display but that doesn't mean there was an actual problem with the CAN wiring. What usually happens is the Hilo shuts down for some other reason and the 33025 is a byproduct of the shutdown. By all means check connections and CAN wiring. I suggest removing the display and doing a resistance test from the face of the display connector while moving the harness at various places. But if you have telemetry with timeouts set, that code can also be a byproduct of the telemetry system. DO NOT jam your probes into the connector sockets. Keep some wires around with the matching terminal ends to plug into the display connector so you can do a hands free resistance test. The number of techs I work with that make more problems by jamming their leads where they don't belong is ridiculous. Don't be that guy!

Check the water levels of the battery cells, if it is a lead acid battery.

Battery maintenance gets ignored way too often.

Low voltage causes weird problems to occur.

33025 is a CAN communication failure between the VSM and Display. I'd check all wires for damage or loose contact. Dielectric grease on all connections wouldn't be a bad idea. Other than that, I'd just live with it until the problem becomes worse and easier to find.

You might get clues to where the problem is by manipulating the wires and connectors to see if you can make it malfunction.
