Discussion:
Clark forklift engine gear cover removal

I have a 1979 Clark forklift C300 /40 serial #356-37-4370 with a Continental F163 engine. The seal behind the pulley on the crankshaft is leaking badly. I would like to remove the cover without removing the engine, is this possible?

There is a rubber support that mounts to a cross member that touchs the bottom of the gear cover, is this actually an engine mount or support? If so, I assume this must be removed before the gear cover can slide off the cranshaft.

I appreciate you experience and help.

You don't have to remove the gear cover to replace the seal. It comes out the front after you take the pulley off.
