Clark C500 SERIES:
Clark c500 ys80 wont start.

Lift would give trouble starting when cold in the mornings but once it got running and got up to temp it would start and run no problems. Today was much colder than any other morning in a while and the lift would simply not start. I have spark ,compression.. the LPG fuel pressure regulator is 6 months old... what would casue a lift to not want to start when cold?? Im pretty sure if it warms up tommorow it will start right up.. problem is its bound to get cold and stay that way for a while and my problems will return. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ray.

yes it is a 6 cylinder...my tanks get filed at the uhaul down the street. Truck lives life hard as its outdoors all the time. From what im understanding your saying it could be the LPGR freezing up. This might explain difficult starts when engine is not warmed up. then easy starts when it is warmed up as the water getting to the LPGR would be much warmer then....Im interpretting that i need to check the LPGR not for fuel pressure but to see if it has been clogged with residue from dirty water...?
So long as were not rebuilding transmissions and engines here im capable.

All in all.. It sounds like your telling me make sure my lpgr is getting the water it needs to keep from freezing up by draining it and seeing if its clogged with residue..
guess that will be my morning project.
Thanks for help guys. all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Due to the laws of thermodynamics, it does not have to be cold outside for the LPG regulator to freeze.
The fuel itself has to warm up as the gas expands, and pressure changes, this is the reason for waterlines that lead into and away from the LPG regulator.
Are you filling the tank from a gravity fill tank?, are you filling it when it is cold outside, then keeping the tank and truck inside the rest of the day?
Has anyone (that knows what they are doing) drained the regulator to see if it is filled with residue?

Thanks for reply..
its not cold enough to freeze its only 45 degrees outside. lift is well maintained as far as fluids go. oil, hydraulic, coolant, plugs are 4 months new distributor cap and rotor.. you are on the right track as i suspect somthing to do with the lpg flow...what i dont understand is why it starts easily and runs when warmed up and doesnt when cold..would fouled plugs cause this.. is there something in the fuel system that works better when the oil is warmed up and not so good when machine is cold???
