Pleasant Good day to you johnr j, i went back on location to re-access the cmp 25 fork, what was interested is that,after engaging the hindging brake the tranny was still in motion and cripping,so i found out that it was only working as a brake and not disengaging the tranny. so i am asking you if you have theory on the hindging brake or diagram for this type forklift. the serial number is cmp230l-4317-6872-kf model# cmp25l LPG. and sorry i didnt get the chance to check the incline of the hill. Bless: in an earlier post you talk about an Clark CMP 25 having the same issues after you rebuilt the tranny. Is this C500 the same unit? Also what lift capacity is this unit. C500 only means the design series not lift capacity a complete model number like C500-Y50 (for a 5000 unit pneumatic tire) is more meaningful and a complete serial number is also helpful as it contains a lot number which identifies any design changes and year of manufacture. This info is stamped on the truck data plate. If teh data plate is missing the full serial number is stamped in the frame - generally near the RH front drive tire. Also the grade of the ramp is nice info - see my response on your CMP-25 issue.
With this info. you can get a more accurate response.

How high does the engine race when fully throttled? If engine operation is ok then it could be a few things- trans fluid level low-tranny worn out- inching spool sticking, brakes sticking or the plug in the torque convertor has fallen out.
The first thing to check is trans fluid level. Dipstick is on top of differential housing, between the dash cowl & the upright. Warm engine to operating temp, tilt upright full forward, set parking brake, put trans in nuetral, keep engine running & pull dipstick. Trans fluid level should be clearly marked. Trans fluid should be bright pink. If needed, add Dextron ATF fluid- the newest version will work fine.
The next thing to check is idle & full throttle rpm in nuetral, followed by the same check in forward, then reverse. When checking rpm in forward & reverse, make sure brakes are fully applied & wheels chocked.
