The dash lights flashing indication that it is a hard active fault, I recommend changing. The cam and crank sensors at the same time, first check the wiring to both sensors to make sure is no broken wires at the connector they are both located just behind the fan the crank sensor is hard to see as it is lower and under the water pump.

I have a machine with same problem e-27, no one has talked about all the warning lights on the dash board flashing at the same time as presenting error code e-27. Flashing warning lights some other problem?

I do think this is the first year model, 04 or 05, I can't remember without pulling up paperwork details. So if I understand what your saying, they have improved the durability in general of the wiring harness and the gauge or strength of the wiring? This would be good news as we are sending our lift in tomorrow to confirm it's diagnosis and likely replace the harness. I am tired of pouring money into labor to fix broken wires only to see them break again in a different location in the harness.
Thanks, for the feedback.

tileguy,
that problem was more or less with the first year production models in that P & C series truck. Since then they have improved on the problems in the harnesses.
occasionally i still do see it once in a blue moon but not near as much as i did the first year those trucks came out.

after seeing the radical change they made in the materials in the harnesses, mainly the wire which is now less flexible and the core of the wire is harder and less strands , it just cant take the bends and vibration like the old type wire they used to use.
The engineer and purchasing agent that believed the suplier saying this wire was better need to have their nuuts cut off hehehe

this is just my opinion of course but it is what it is, i call it like i see it :o)

I have a Cat p5000 and have spent the last year repairing broken wires in wiring harness and am now told I need a new harness. Has this been an ongoing problem with this unit and if so, has the new harness been improved? Any feedback on this would be great.

Good info JP. I put the suspect coil into the sister machine that I borrowed the good coil from and ended up with a dead cylinder.

thats great to hear forkliftt
glad it worked out for you
and on that defective coil?
double check the plug and the wires going to the plug that connects to the coil pack, i've seen wire breakage there that will fool you into replacing a coil when thats not actually the problem. Generally if you pull on the wires at the plug you can tell if thier is one broken because it will start pulling out and in most cases will come right out of the plug or at least break right where it goes into it.
But i hope replacing the coil fixes it ;o)

good job!

Update
I had a new service call today, Nissan with K21engine. E27 code, dead miss. Had to work two spark plugs out as suggested. Cleared code with pedal dance. Worked like a champ. Ended up with a defective coil on #1. Borrowed a coil from sister machine till new one arrives. Great help here is what I get. Thanks all!!

Agree with swoop , usually just loosen alittle, douse with penetrating oil and move to the next plug, work your way back to first plug. Work it like a tap in and out hopefully you can knock the carbon off, get the plug out without thread damage sometimes it can't be helped.

loosen them , then squirt some oil in the threads before trying to remove them all the way.

if you try and take them out before applying oil it will tear out the threads in the head.

there is a service bulletin on this problem
it can run you around in circles chasing ghosts and replacing parts unnecessarily
first thing to try is remove and inspect spark plugs
if the truck has alot of hours on it try changing spark plugs
if the gap is wider than.038 (.096mm) then this could trigger the code.

code E27 is triggered because the time the ecm expects a signal from either one of those sensors is longer than expected. yes there could be a wiring issue but they do suggest checking and changing the spark plugs first on the long list of problems to check.

Fact of the week
Bluetooth is named after the 10th-century Viking king, Harald Bluetooth, who united warring tribes in Denmark and Norway. In 1997, Jim Kardach from Intel gave the name to the technology because of its ability to unite different communication protocols, just as Harald united various tribes.
