buyout?

I heard that Volvo sold the IR division of telehandlers, does anyone know who bought it?

FYI: Someone at IR gave their switchboard operator bad information. Anyone calling IR lately about IR forklifts (VR1044C, etc) was given the phone number of Clark Material Handling Co. Clark's relationship with IR is only circumstantial through Clark's former corporate parent, Clark Equipment Co.
IR has now been advised of their error and asked to correct their phone records. Anyone with an IR forklift needs to contact Skyjack at 1-800-965-4626.

Wasn't MEC ( Melville Engineering Corp ). I thought they went out years ago. I haven't heard that name in years now.

From what I have seen and heard those MEC machines are nice. I just don't see alot of them out there.

I wonder how the support would be?

Wow,

It looks like those Canadians want to play big time with JLG. They just bought Carelift/Zoom boom with a full line telescopic range from 6,000 to 30,000lbs.

Hi,
I emailed a media contact at Volvo. He says Volvo bought Ingersoll Rand's Road Development Division in April 2007. He says: "Although it is a good product (IR telehandler) it was thought not to be a sufficiently good fit for the rest of the Volvo range at present. Volvo does intend to divest that element of the acquisition, but no deal has been announced as yet."

your right, it is suppose to be a rebrand on the IR telehandler but Volvo isn't putting their name on it because they don't want it. Someone just bought it from Volvo from what I here.

It may be a rebrand and not a sale.

"Volvo also acquires the eight-model VR telehandler range from Ingersoll Rand, but must rebrand IR machines within a short period although it has acquired the Blaw-Knox and ABG brand names." (ContractJournal, 03/07/07). Google: Ingersoll Rand purchase boosts Volvo expansion.

Details and specs on the Ingersoll Rand VR telehandlers are currently being downloaded from Blaw-Knox.

Thats was one buy out back in 2006. That was the old Trak design with low boom pivot. Volvo last year bought the IR high boom pivot reach forklift line and has just sold it to someone.

Fact of the week
A 1904 lecture by scientist Elie Metchnikoff extolled the benefits of consuming yoghurt for halting the "intestinal putrefaction" which he believed causes aging. The press reported yoghurt as a cure for aging and the ensuing popularity is still with us today.
