Hi mate, yes i was feild based and still am im actually working for a reputable forklift company but have my own customer base so im able to run that along side. I definetly agree with you about good and bad engineers and been selfish but thats the way of the world im afraid and id rather be one of the ones that helps a fellow engineer out if i can. The thing is with the one's that think they know everything feel embarrassed to ask for help when there stuck so usually find an excused to leave the job for some one else to take over.

was you field based? where are you working now?

i agree mate, i've seen some very clued up engineers but i wouldnt class them as good engineers as they are very selfish and not very flexable.
And the other side again, theres some greate blokes out there that arnt exactly clued up but will do anything asked of them.
