does anyone seem to be backed in a corner with Raymond on their handle , basically being told constently that you have broken the hanlde and your contract doesn't cover this type of damage because your operator has put to much torque on the handle and broken the enternal stops. could it just possibly be the POT switch is bad and needs replaced and or just try and tighten the screws....any HELP !!!!!

You need factory laptop to turn it off. Might be room inside cover, tape it up. If you unplug it, codes..
Hi, anyone know if you can turn off the rear/secondary handle in a Raymond 7500 reach truck? or should I just take it off and put it inside the cover?
Is it side stance? Or do you face forward to drive? 7400 control handles are completely fixable. There is a travel pot, lift pot, and the rest is a circuit card with horn, reach buttons and tilt switch. The handle halves are one part # for both halves. You do not need to replace the handle for a bad switch, or cracked handle half's.
Side stance trucks tend to get broken handles easier. Between my fleet of 75 7400,7500's.....handle repairs are rare. I always fix them them unless there are multiple issues like travel pot and half's are cracked. Then i put a rebuilt one on. They have 6 months warranty. A handle on a 7400 can be repaired cheaper than replacement. But replacement takes only half an hour as no covers need removal and learning is done in minutes. Repair takes an hour or more, depending on the skill of the tech. Some guys just refuse to repair due to lack of knowledge. You have the right to question them and ask for a repair instead of complete replacement. Are you being sold new or Rebuilt?
**** i had a nice post but raytech pretty much covered everything there. and evidently can type much faster than me! you should know though, if the stops are broken it will give a throttle pot code when the handle gets pushes past voltage limits.

I see this a lot lately, at one place. Another giant food distribution place that runs 24/7 never breaks the control handles. My next customer runs 2 shifts and shuts down one day a week, with half the hours of the 24/7 DC....but constantly break the control handles. So driver's can affect the breakdown rate by leaning into the control handles.
To be considered broken, a handle would be cracked on both halves,(Reach trucks) or the pivot bearing area split open (common on pacers) That's when you replace the handle. But a defective lift Pot, or travel pot can be, and SHOULD be replaced. Goes for horn, reach, tilt or side shift switches....they can be replaced.
Sorry to say but some techs are too lazy or inexperienced to take them apart and replace defective components. Are you paying the bills or are you the driver getting blamed? You're right, the pot can be replaced. Some reach handles need a circuit board for just one switch. Others have replaceable single switches. What truck model do you have?
