I actually heard some time ago that Barloworld and Briggs would swap their Cat and Hyster dealerships in the UK to tie in with how Barloworld operate in the US.
Has anyone heard this rumour? I doubt that this would happen personally.

As an end user and having contracts with both companies i dread to think what monster could be created if the two were to amalgamate in any shape or form.... lets hope not

just a few comments on the vans and uniforms.barloworld started having silver vans about two years ago,and the uniforms were changed to black at the request of the engineers.we had black uniforms ten years ago, but then the loonies took over the assylum and the rest is history.from the sound of briggs they are run by loonies too,so its probably the best if nacco have their own dealerships and avoid employing all those loonies!!

No one knows anything for certain just a real big rumour at the moment!! Sit tight and we'll see what happens. Both companies are in serious trouble so can't see either adding more problems to what they've already got. The bigger they make either company the bigger loss they will make. Also I would say the manufacturers would not be happy one company selling to makes of truck. You don't find a BMW garage that is also an Audi dealer you have to be comited and loyal to one person.

So whats the story? Is there any validity to this? Lots of people on the other side of the pond would like to know, they have always been the Barlow's red headed step children.
on the grapevine Sammons are ready to of load Briggs to the highest bidder, can't keep bailing out a sinking ship.

Wouldn't hyster just take over barlow there is no money in being just a dealer
and manufactures need the service side. They will then be able to compete with
other manufactures like linde, toyota, nissan - A let , jungheinrich on the same
level. What will come out of all this will be manufactures who have there own
sales and service network will still be here and the others will go

Doubt it to be the other way round. Sammons are one of the most powerfull independant companys (i.e. no shareholders) in America and Barlows finances and shares are in a complete mess at present. More redundancies being made at Briggs at the moment so lets see what's going to happen!!!!!! It's all down to who can scale down their company correctly to the current climate.
