Discussion:
Bad LP fuel destroying the regulator

I have a customer with a small fleet of 8FGCU32s. Over the past few days, every one of the LP regulators have failed. To be more specific, they do not have any output. Even when a new regulator is put on, it lasts about 1 or 2 days and has the same failure.
Each regulator is completely dry inside meaning no oil buildup or residue. The one thing in common with every lift is the fuel supply.
The LP vendor denies fault but it can only be the fuel. What would cause the fuel to do this?

We have had some issues with propane also, but our problem is blown diaphragms. Your problem is odd. If passages are getting plugged it would have to be a solid contaminate or a chemical reaction causing a plug. Have you torn apart a regulator to see if you can find the problem?

There is liquid fuel to the regulator but nothing coming out. Every regulator in this account is failing. The regulator is replaced and runs great for a day or two and then fails.

There is something wrong with the LPG, perhaps and additive or improper blend of fuels. The fuel leaves no oily buildup like normal fuel. Perhaps it has too much butane or propylene. I've never had this issue before in 20 years.

First you need to find out why there is no fuel delivery. You have to start at the tank connector and work your way to the regulator. Do you have fuel at the regulator?

The black box flight recorder was invented by Australian scientist David Warren in the mid-1950s. While initially met with indifference in Australia, his invention gained international recognition, particularly in the UK, and is now a mandatory piece of safety equipment on all commercial aircraft.
