I have this ancient 48V machine that seems to draw way too much current with the steering motor.

I expected maybe 20A, but the meter says almost 100A. The noise level is also rather high. The steering works, but i want it to work for a while and this can't be right. A 48V battery was put in when I acquired it, but it may have had a 36V battery originally. It has a new modern drive motor controller. The wiring is a hacked nightmare, and there is no diagram nor have I found one online.

What would be your game plan with this beast?

Fact of the week
Goldfish are opportunistic feeders that have no stomach and lack that natural "fullness" signal. This means they will eat constantly if food is available, leading to serious health issues such as blocked intestines and obesity from overfeeding.
