TOC Market Briefing Latin America

Ecuador, Guayaquil - 16-17 September 2008
The recent TOC AMERICAS event in Panama unearthed interesting, positive feedback from the ports and terminals of Latin America. Having discussed with the leading companies in this sector, it was clear that there is demand for a regional forum that will cover local developments, particularly in the Ecuador / Columbia area. This is mainly due to the significant growth that is taking place on the West Coast of Central and South America.

Driven by local demand, the Market Briefing will be a two day conference focusing on the shipping line perspective of moving cargo in and out of this region, with major contribution from terminal operators and the added angle of cold chain logistics. The cold chain element will be focusing on the banana trade.

The Conference will place the spot light on Peru and Columbia.

We will also conduct case studies focusing on other areas of Latin America and draw comparisons with the west coast developments and port activity.

Fact of the week
At the opening ceremony of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 1932, marching bands were instructed to walk out of step as they crossed the bridge. This unusual directive was given as a precaution due to concerns about the bridge's structural integrity during its early use.
