FLTA Safety Week

United Kingdom, TBA - 20th-26th September 2010
The UK's leading provider of materials handling training, Mentor, is making it easy for managers to respond to National Fork Lift Safety Week - by booking themselves onto a specially-designed awareness course at a reduced rate.

A recent report by the Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) revealed managers and supervisors are "often the weak link" in ensuring safe working conditions around the vehicles, and September's "Manage to be Safe" campaign encourages anyone with a supervisory role to develop their own knowledge, in order to protect front-line employees.

To show support for the campaign, and encourage managers to take action quickly, Mentor is offering a 25% discount on its unique, AITT-accredited Safety Awareness course until the end of the year.
Further details can be found in the attached press release, along with an unusual cartoon illustration showing the importance of awareness: if you would like anything further, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

National Fork Lift Safety Week returns in late September to raise safety awareness in all places operating fork lift trucks. Free resources will once again be offered on the FLTA's website and in safety packs, and the Association will be releasing various useful and interesting stories media-wide to keep awareness levels high. To find out more, visit http://www.fork-truck.org.uk/safetyweek

As with the 2009 campaign, Safety Week 2010 will provide people who work with fork lift trucks with all of the information and resources that they need to stay safe. On this site will be everything you'll need to remind your co-workers about fork lift truck safety - most of which will be free of charge, making it even quicker, easier and cheaper to reduce the accident toll.

How can I help?

You can help to prevent deaths and injuries in your workplace by making the most of these FREE resources.

You can also help simply by keeping your eyes open. If you see something unsafe in your own workplace, report it to the relevant supervisor. Safety is everybody's remit - after all, anybody could be an accident victim.

Does Safety Week make a difference?

According to statistics from the Health and Safety Executive, accident rates have dropped to the lowest level since accidents began. But there's still more work to be done - fork lift truck accidents are still the most common of all workplace transport.
