ICHCA Seminar: IMO/ILO/UNECE COP for Packing Cargo Transport Units

United Kingdom, London - 22nd October
One week left to book for this Seminar........

After three years of development, the new IMO/ILO/UNECE Code of Practice for Packing of Cargo Transport Units (CTUs) is now due for imminent release.

Extensively revised and upgraded from the original 1997 CTU Packing Guidelines, the new Code has implications for everyone involved in CTU logistics, whether moving general cargo, refrigerated or dangerous goods, by road, rail or water, in containers, swap bodies, road trailers, tankers or rail cars.

Taking place in London on 22 October, this practical one-day seminar will be the first opportunity to get a detailed look at what the new Code contains and how it will affect the various parties along the cargo packing, securing, handling and transport chain.

From shippers, cargo packers, forwarders and logistics companies through to road, rail and sea carriers, ports and terminals, insurers and other cargo handling interests, proper packing and securing of cargo is a matter of universal supply chain concern - and not just in terms of dealing with new global rules. Poor CTU packing and securing is responsible for an alarmingly high percentage of incidents along the transport chain, leading to cargo damage and loss, injuries and fatalities.

As the leading NGO association representing the interests of the global cargo handling industry, ICHCA International has been deeply involved in the consultation process with IMO, ILO and UNECE. We are therefore pleased to host this seminar, which brings all the interested industry parties together to share the latest information and discuss the next steps.

We hope that you will be able to join us this October for a productive day of education, debate, brainstorming and networking with our expert panel of speakers and fellow professionals from across the cargo chain.

Fact of the week
The dot-com bubble, a period of large and rapid investments in internet-based companies, peaked in 2000 and saw the Nasdaq Composite index rise by 579%. Then the bubble imploded. As the value of tech stocks plummeted, cash-strapped internet start-ups became worthless and collapsed.
