Still to open mechatronics centre in HamburgGerman-based intralogistics provider Still has begun the construction phase of its Centre of Competence Mechatronics in Hamburg Billbrook.
Covering a total area of 14,500 sqm (including 8,200 sqm of production space and 2,600 sqm of office space), the centre will be home to 140 employees.
To be completed at a cost of EUR50 million (52.60 million USD), the project is scheduled for completion in early 2026.
Still says the construction of the centre lays the foundations for expansion of its mechatronics portfolio, promotes interdisciplinary cooperation between its various teams, and encourages innovation and efficiency.
Hamburg's Senator for Economics and Innovation, Melanie Leonhard joined Still to break ground at the site of the new centre.
"With our Centre of Competence Mechatronics, we are creating a unique innovation platform for the entire mechatronics sector," says Still managing director, Florian Heydenreich.
"It stands for innovative strength, technological excellence and efficiency – and for highly attractive, future-proof jobs in Hamburg."
Still says the project, which is located just one km from its headquarters, comes as it plans further investment within Hamburg.
"Following the opening of our production facility for fuel cell systems in 2023, the next logical step is to build up further expertise and pool resources in the field of pioneering energy systems," explains Heydenreich.
