Supply chain solutions provider RM2 is touting its new polyurethane resin composite pallet's superiority over traditional pallets.

BLOCKPal is claimed to have superior strength, toughness and impact resistance, according to RM2 executive Chris Gibbs, who explains that "use of Covestro's polyurethane composite results in pallets that can be used over and over again in automated, closed-loop, multi-trip supply chains with high numbers of movements".

Gibbs says this enables RM2 to lease the pallets through long-term contracts with customers - a unique approach to materials handling in North America.

This is further complemented by the company's ERICA tracking system which provides real-time intelligence to monitor and manage the movement of pallets. RM2's ability to identify pallet locations helps minimise pallet loss, he says.

For supply chains that reuse or could reuse pallets, the BLOCKPal pallets can translate into significant operational efficiencies, including less product damage, downtime and repairs; more pallets per truck for returns; and more trips per pallet.

Founded in 2007, RM2 has invested in excess of USD60 million into research and development in pallet manufacturing technologies, pallet design and pallet pool supply chain economics.
