RICO's Yale conversion model

RICO Manufacturing is collaborating with Hyster-Yale Group to convert forklifts to explosion-proof (EX) standards.

The initial collaboration will cover 6,000 lb. (2,700 kg) electric counterbalance forklifts - in both Hyster and Yale versions.

According to a RICO statement, EX forklift trucks are associated with industries, such as aerospace, automotive, chemical, petroleum, construction, food, pharmaceuticals and plastics, where the trucks may be exposed to explosive gases and combustible dust.

The RICO EX trucks will further Hyster-Yale dealers' ability to provide an industry-focused solution tailored to these specific working environments.

The collaboration dates back to 2017 when Hyster and Yale dealers became exclusive distributors of the RICO Standard Pegasus Elite line of large-capacity, cushion-tyre electric and internal-combustion counterbalance trucks.

"Although (the two new) EX models are exclusive to Hyster and Yale, RICO continues to offer a full line of EX products to all dealers," says RICO president Steve Shuck.

"We are excited to team up with Hyster-Yale Group to create a safe and reliable EX conversion for the sit-down models," says Shuck.
