An investigation is underway into the death of a warehouse employeeA 57-year-old warehouse employee died in Sydney this week after he was struck by a forklift.
Police were called to the Matraville warehouse of global logistics company Menzies Aviation, following reports a worker had been seriously injured. The man was treated by paramedics for chest injuries but died at the scene.
Police are investigating the accident and have confirmed SafeWork NSW has been notified. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
A spokesperson for Menzies Aviation tells Forkliftaction News the man was not an employee of Menzies.
"We are still trying to piece together how the incident occurred and are working with NSW Police and Safework NSW as they conduct their own investigations,” the spokesperson adds.
“This is a tragic day for everyone, especially the family of the truck driver. We’re offering them our full support and compassion.
“Counselling has been made available to staff who were onsite when the accident occurred.”
