No charges will be filed after a June 2018 crash involving a forklift that left a Grand Forks man dead, according to the Grand Forks County prosecutor.
The Dickinson Press reports that on June 18, a minivan rear-ended a forklift about a half-mile west of Thompson on Highway 15.
The driver of the forklift, 61-year-old Juan Contreras, died as a result of the accident. The driver of the Chrysler Town and Country minivan, 80-year-old Marilyn Pederson of Northwood, and her passenger, 75-year-old Judith Meldahl of Decatur, Ill., were uninjured.
Grand Forks County State's Attorney Haley Wamstad said that the office reviewed the case and determined criminal charges would not be filed.
The investigation was conducted by the Highway Patrol.
