With nearly 30 years in the Australian forklift industry, independent forklift supplier Forkserve continues to provide 24-hour service to companies throughout Sydney, and, as of January this year, can provide a national service through its affiliation with other companies.
Originally a one-man business, the company has expanded to provide new and used forklift sales, service, repairs and hire. Already a premium dealer of Nichiyu electric forklifts, it was appointed by Linde as a preferred supplier of its Baoli Gas/Petrol forklifts this month.
Marketing director Jay Jack tells
Forkliftaction.com News that the company aims to provide customers with quality service at fair prices, and is prepared to boost business with some innovative business incentives.
"We are currently in negotiations with several companies to supply a variety of new forklifts suitable to their applications. This ranges from electric reach trucks to gas petrol units," he adds.
According to Jack, the current economic climate poses a major challenge to the forklift industry, and he says online auctions and substandard equipment continue to cause problems.
He also hopes to increase the market's confidence in independent forklift companies by providing a high level of service and dispelling preconceived notions of warranties being voided if the original manufacturer is not used. "In most cases, warranties should remain intact if the work is done by properly qualified mechanics, using genuine parts.
"We have had clients who have purchased forklifts online thinking they are getting a bargain, only to find that they have to resell the unit because it doesn't do the job they need it to, or they have to spend thousands of dollars on required repairs.
"Obtaining good quality spare parts is another problem, as some of the after-market parts arrive faulty from the supplier or fail in a short period of time.
"Substandard equipment from any part of the world presents a real danger in this industry, as very often the life of the forklift operator is dependent on the quality and safe operating ability of the forklift. Safety is diminished if any part of a forklift is not up to scratch."
