Once again, there has been very little change in the global top 10 forklift manufacturers list compiled by German magazine DHF.

Japan’s Toyota remains at the top of the 2023 list with a 29.57% share of the world forklift market. KION is in second place again with a 13.98% share, followed by Jungheinrich with 9.10%.

The minor changes in the rankings, drawn up using data from 2021, were Hangcha moving up one spot to 8th, Manitou going from 10th to 9th place and Kalmar falling two spots to sit in 10th position.

Incoming orders rose globally to a 12-year high, with the Asian region accounting for more than half of all orders, according to the annual DHF report by Jurgen Warmbold.

Citing World Industrial Trucks Statistics (WITS) data, the report found incoming orders were up in Europe, the Americas and Asia, with China making a “noticeable contribution”. While in the Africa and Australia/Oceania regions, there was a slight decline during 2021.

Seven industrial truck associations report aggregated and anonymised statistics to produce the WITS reports: Associacao Brasileira de la Maquinas e Equipamentos (ABIMAQ); China Industrial Truck Association (CITA); European Federation of Materials Handling Product Group Industrial Trucks (FEM IT); Industrial Truck Association (ITA); Japanese Industrial Vehicles Association (JIVA); Korean Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (KOCEMA); and Society of Indian Materials Handling Equipment Manufacturers (SIMHEM).

To be included in the global ranking, companies must have a minimum turnover of EUR10 million. However, not all manufacturers wish to be included in the list.
