This message comes to you from the American mid-west and from -44 degrees F (-42 degrees C). For forklift operators, the cold and snow represent particular challenges, as we have seen in recent weeks with parts of Europe facing snow storms and extreme conditions.
Our newsletter includes an in-depth article on forklifts and cold conditions - looking at the machine characteristics and operational considerations. Despite improvements in technology, not all machines can cut it in extreme conditions and, even then, drivers need to exercise special care when moving loads on slippery surfaces.
