Home Depot Santa FeHome Depot is being sued after an employee ran over a Santa Fe man, leading to the amputation of his leg.
Santiago Brito was struck by the forklift driven by Dawn Laughter, according to the lawsuit. He was knocked over and the forklift then drove over his right foot, causing a severe injury which eventually resulted in the amputation of his leg below the knee.
The lawsuit claims the driver couldn't see Brito because the load on the forklift was stacked so high it obstructed her vision.
She was working alone, despite Home Depot's policy requiring two employees be present during operation of a forklift.
Brito has accused Laughter and Home Depot of negligence and is seeking an unspecified amount of actual and punitive damages and legal costs.
