 Baumann's new 50 T GXS500 |
Sideloader specialist Baumann has unveiled its largest-ever model - the new 50 T GXS500.
The model has been delivered to a fruit concentrates company, where it will be used to carry 40 ft. containers.
The GXS500 sideloader also features a raised cabin, able to see over the top of containers, which tilts and angles forward to sit in front of the main deck. The technique was first used in Baumann's GXS200 range and has proved extremely useful for providing clear views with and without loads.
"This is the biggest sideloader that's ever been made and any machine this size comes with its own unique challenges," says Baumann technical director Riccardo Bove. "The total weight of the machine is in excess of 72 T, the mast alone is 18 T. That said, the basic design and specification of the truck is something that we are very familiar with and follows the same design principles of our existing ranges."
The model features cameras for greater visibility, while thermal protection helps shield the machine and maintain load temperatures. and automatic deck levelling keeps loads secure. "It means that even the heaviest loads can be moved safely and securely," according to Bove.
"The response so far has been incredible," he adds. "We are always searching for ways to develop stronger, faster and smarter technology. Seeing the ease at which this huge truck is put to use is very rewarding and is completely in tune with our business ethos."
The new model coincides with a significant milestone for Baumann which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary. The company now sells its range of 3 to 50 T capacity electric and diesel sideloaders worldwide through 106 dealers in 76 countries.
