A forklift has trapped and killed a man delivering concrete cinder blocks to a construction site in Punta Gorda.

The man, identified as 61-year-old Luis Garcia of Cape Coral, was rushed to Bayfront Health Port Charlotte as a trauma patient, but died from severe injuries.

Crews used airbags to raise the equipment to free him.

According to officials, Garcia rolled the forklift in an area of soft sand, which caused him to become pinned underneath.
