The board of directors of the Material Handling Education Foundation, Inc. (MHEFI) has announced its 2016/17 winners who collectively receive USD116,460 in scholarships.

For 40 years, MHEFI has supported materials handling, logistics and supply chain students at many universities.

MHEFI scholarships are awarded each year to students dedicated to entering the materials handling, logistics or supply chain field, either within MHI member companies or the user community.

These students are pursuing careers in the industry as engineers, project managers, management, researchers and professors. Many will be employed in manufacturing and the supply chain.

Major award winners include Merve Ozen, University of WI-Madison, who will receive USD9,000 from the Crane Manufacturers Association of America; Justin Traino, University of Pittsburgh, who will receive USD6,860 from the Rack Manufacturers Institute/John Nofsinger Honor Scholarship; and Seyed Mofidi, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, who has won the USD6,000 Tompkins International Honor Scholarship.

A number of USD5,000 scholarships were also awarded, including the Frazier Industrial Honor Scholarship to Joshua Dimon, Clemson University; and Howard Bernstein Scholarships to Jeremy Kaszycki, Bradley University; William Berry, Georgia Tech; Taylor Au, Rutgers University; Garrett Thomas, Kettering University; Benjamin Brooks, Michigan State; and Peyton Gunnison, Northern Illinois University.

Since 1976, MHEFI has awarded more than USD2.5 million in scholarships and grants to students at colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
