Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and its association counterparts overseas have partnered to promote the global construction equipment industry.

AEM, China Construction Manufacturers Association (CCMA), the Committee for European Construction Equipment, (CECE), the Japan Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) and the Korea Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (KOCEMA), have joined the new International Associations Committee (IAC).

An AEM spokesperson says the IAC will rotate its meeting venues among association countries, depending on events already being held by the associations. For example, the first formal meeting of the committee was held in Japan during CEMA's annual conference.

IAC will meet to provide guidance and direction from the executive level on issues covering emerging markets, global statistics, exhibitions and intellectual property rights.

AEM president Dennis Slater says the associations' member companies are affected by the "rapid globalisation" of the industry.

"All companies and countries will benefit by the IAC focus on an open and cordial exchange of ideas, exploring opportunities of mutual interest."
