Multi-brand forklift dealer Liftec Inc has added the lines of Doosan Industrial Vehicle America Corp in parts of New Jersey and New York and is exploring geographical expansion.
Liftec has Doosan responsibilities for the upper New Jersey counties of Bergen and Passaic, the New York City boroughs of the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens and the adjacent New York counties of Orange, Rockland, Sullivan, Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk. The representation started on 1 October.
"Liftec Forklifts will give the Doosan brand a very strong presence in that market area," says Lyndle McCurley, Doosan general manager of dealer development.
The Liftec dealer principals were impressed with the quality of Doosan products and have heard other dealers speak positively about the organisation, says Steve Panek, Liftec president. "We have seen the Doosan products and like that Doosan is going into category 2 and 3 products."
Panek's Liftec business partner is Tom Sylvester, executive vice president and dealer principal.
In addition to Doosan, Liftec provides sales, service and rentals for forklifts from other manufacturers including Nissan by UniCarriers, Barrett by UniCarriers, Linde, Flexi and Hyundai.
Liftec also represents Absolute E-Z Up aerial work platforms and, since January, Karcher floor care equipment. In August, Liftec hired Keith Sahlin as product specialist for those brands.
Beyond its principal territory, Liftec covers additional New Jersey and New York geography in representing the Absolute and Karcher equipment lines.
Panek says the dealership's possible geographical expansion relates to the maturing of Liftec's core New Jersey marketplace and the potential of providing services to nearby communities in eastern Pennsylvania and elsewhere.
Liftec has a staff of 41 and occupies 30,000 sqft. (2,787 sqm) in a South Plainfield facility.
Doosan Industrial Vehicle America, which has its North American headquarters in Suwanee, Georgia, is an operation of the conglomerate Doosan Group of Seoul, South Korea.
