KAUP's "Smart Load Control": damage free handling

Refrigerators, washing machines and dryers, TVs and screens: damage free handling of modern household and entertainment appliances poses great challenges for manufacturers, retailers and logistics companies. There are different approaches to solving these challenges. Sensors and lasers are one of them however KAUP chose a completely different approach for their new system Smart Load Control (SLC).

The patented SLC system starts there where all other systems on the market end. It doesn't use lasers, sensors or anything similar but real weight detection. SLC thus solves a major problem of existing systems from other manufacturers: flexible, damage free handling of light, fragile, large volume transport goods. During the clamping/transport process, only as much clamping force acts on the transported goods as is actually required for handling. Never too much clamping force. SLC orientates on the weight of the goods to be transported and not on the dimensions or nature of the load. And thus protects the goods. A further advantage of this approach: the system is exact and responds quickly.

No intervention in the forklift truck hydraulic system necessary

Smart Load Control works completely independent and autonomously from the forklift truck. Because the system never interferes with the forklift hydraulics - it works completely independently. A power supply is sufficient: "Plug & Play".

The complete autonomy from the truck distinguishes Smart Load Control from all systems currently available from KAUP and also from other attachment manufacturers!

SLC eliminates another potential source of error: the forklift truck driver. Because the structure of the system prevents operators from intervening during the clamping/transport process and clamping too tight. Incorrect operation is therefore impossible.

No cost-intensive setup and clamp force measurement

Another difference of Smart Load Control to other systems on the market: a lengthy and cost-intensive setup is not necessary. Why? SLC is delivered in a combination of attachments. The settings are done in the factory beforehand. On site, the combination only needs to be connected to the vehicle - without a separate SLC installation.

With KAUP's Smart Load Control separate testing devices are also superfluous. This is because with SLC, the clamp force measurement with test fixtures which are regularly carried out in other systems are no longer necessary. The standard monitoring function of Smart Load Control automatically logs all data for each transport operation. A record of the clamping forces used and all clamping and loading patterns can thus be read out at any time. A USB stick is sufficient. Further documentation, processing and evaluation of the data can then be done on computer.

Smart Load Control + the new Appliance Clamp = an unbeatable combination

However, Smart Load Control only shows its full benefit with the new KAUP T414B Appliance Clamp which is characterized by several innovations.

To achieve more stability the arm connection - i.e. the connection between the pressure frame and sliding carriage - has been modified.

The pressure frame itself was also redesigned. Its modular form is now much more compact and it consists of fewer individual parts.

An integral part of the newly designed pressure plates is the new coating: grooved profile rubber.

It is not only particularly abrasion-resistant and is vulcanized directly onto the carrier plate, the coating reduces the required clamping pressure - depending on the load, up to 30%.

Smart Load Control + T414B: a new appliance system for gentle, damage free handling of white and brown goods with reduced power and energy consumption.

About Kaup
KAUP has its origins in Leider, an urban district of Aschaffenburg. In 1894 a smithy was founded which later specialized in repairs in the field of ship and harbour equipment and was the forerunner of today's company. In the beginning of the 1960s the company, headed by Otmar Kaup, began with the manufacturing of attachments for forklift trucks. Later production was extended to include container spreaders and stationary equipment for material handling.
