KAUP GmbH & Co KG has been certified for its environmental and energy management.

Independent expert audits held at the end of 2013 have resulted in the conferring of the DIN EN ISO 14001 (environmental management) and DIN EN ISO 50001 (energy management) certifications on the forklift attachment maker.

Managing director Holger Kaup says the company has long made efforts to reduce energy consumption in production and to behave in a responsible manner with regards to the environment.

"These systems anchor our responsibility towards [the] environment even deeper in the company. They confirm our self-commitment of the past years and make an effective contribution to the protection of [the] environment and climate," he explains.

KAUP started the ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 project in April 2013, initially with the formal preparation for an environmental and energy management system. At the same time, an energy manager was appointed to bring the project to life and, with management representatives, will be in charge of both management systems.

Environment-friendly initiatives by KAUP include roof refurbishments, energy-efficient production hall lighting and optimised compressed air supply to the assembly workplaces that includes heat recovery.
