Robots, like these automated robots, are increasingly a part of warehousing

New data reveals "mixed supply chain dynamics" for the US materials handling sector with new shipments and overall business activity increasing while new orders and inventories fell, according to the MHI Business Activity Index (BAI).

Despite this, the BAI for September 2024 indicates optimism for the future.

While robots used to be a futuristic, sci-fi concept, they are quickly finding their pace within the materials handling sector.

New data shows Asia accounted for 70% of new installations in 2023 with China leading the way while Europe accounted for 17% of new installations. Surprisingly the US bucked the trend.

And the US logistics community is once again being called on to help in the clean-up of the aftermath of yet another hurricane in Florida. Read the story to find out what is needed.
