This week we update a twisty tale that began as a proposed super-merger and has (almost) ended in a series of demergers.
The story is Cargotec, which announced in October 2020 that it planned to merge with Finnish crane maker Konecranes to create a materials handling super-giant.
However, the merger was abandoned after the United Kingdom’s anti-competition watchdog vetoed the plan.
Now Cargotec is on the verge of splitting into three, with a prospectus issued for the listing of a demerged Kalmar. More details are in this week's news.
This week we also bring you reports of new technology, new partnerships and ongoing concerns about climate change.
