No matter how well things are going in the materials handling sector, it's important to keep an eye on the bigger picture.
That's why it's reassuring to see this week's World Bank global growth forecast - now raised to 5.6%. If that happens, it'll be the strongest recovery from a recession in 80 years.
The report notes, however, that recovery is uneven and largely reflects sharp rebounds in some major economies - most notably, the United States. But many emerging market and developing economies are missing out as they are still dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The World Bank is now urging rich countries, including the United States, to free up excess vaccine doses for use by developing countries as quickly as possible to ensure that these recover fast and, in turn, benefit from the economic recovery.
It really is time to work together.
