Laredo-based, US-Mexico cross-border logistics specialists Jamco, has been acquired by Portland-headquartered diversified supply chain solutions provider, Imperative Logistics Group.
Imperative states that in 2023 Mexico became the largest trading partner with the US, “surpassing China with over USD800 billion in trade value”.
Imperative, which specialises in “mission critical” logistics solutions for the healthcare, retail, technology and aerospace sectors, says the acquisition of Jamco secures its role and presence trading between the US and Mexico.
“Laredo, Texas, has also solidified its role as the top US port, measured by trade value, representing approximately 40% of all US-Mexico trade flows,” Imperative says in a statement.
“The acquisition of Jamco enables the Imperative Group to offer highly specialised services in this vital trade corridor.”
Jamco has operations in the US, Mexico and China with a strong focus on materials handling, customs and transportation.
Imperative chief executive officer Dante Fornari adds of the move: “This acquisition allows us to capitalise on the growing cross-border logistics market, valued at USD14 billion annually and growing steadily due to near-shoring trends”.
