Peter Verbiest

Peter Verbiest is the new materials handling director for the European market for Hyundai. With more than 17 years of experience in the materials handling sector, both in general management and sales, Peter Verbiest shared some of his background with Forkliftaction News.

FLA: Prior to this appointment, what has been your biggest achievement?
PV: For my previous employer, I managed to put together a successful and highly motivated sales team which allowed the company to grow significantly.
Hiring and keeping good employees is the challenge of today and is key to the success and even existence of every company.

FLA: What excites you most about the materials handling industry?
PV: What has always triggered me in this business is that you get to meet people that are active in all kinds of businesses. Most, if not all, companies have something stored on a pallet!

FLA: What is the most significant change you have seen in the industry in your time?
PV: Automation and alternative energy sources are two big changes which have and will have a major effect on our industry.

FLA: What is the biggest opportunity that you see in your new role?
PV: Putting Hyundai MH division on the European map with my new and strengthened sales team!

FLA: Can you share one piece of information about yourself which would surprise our readers?
PV: My approach throughout my career has always been about my team. People don't leave companies, they leave management.
Human capital is the most important asset. Sadly, this is too often forgotten nowadays.
