A Nova Scotia man who has been convicted of stealing a forklift and leading police on a foot chase will serve two years in jail.

Walter Cameron, of Westville, 31, pleaded guilty to the theft, carrying a gun, assaulting police and breaching probation after he stole the forklift from a rail-car plant and drove it into a ditch last June, a Broadcast News report said.

He then led police on a foot chase and, armed with a rifle, fired several shots at officers, who eventually cornered him.

Forkliftaction.com understands the stolen forklift was not a rough-terrain model.
