The Sunday Mirror reported fishermen on a commercial trawler caught a halibut so big it had to be transported by a forklift.
Stephen Cousins, a spokesman for the commercial trawler, says the 20-stone (127kg) fish caught off the coast of Donegal is the biggest halibut the team has ever caught.
"The average size of a halibut would be around two stone (12.7kg) and even that is quite big."
Marine Institute experts will examine the fish before delivering it to its buyer, Clontarf Castle restaurant.
