A forklift driver suffered only cuts, bruises, and sore muscles, after he and his forklift fell from the first to the ground floor of a building on March 6.

Richard Defedele, 20, pulled himself out of a rubble of floorboards, beams and shelving after the floor gave way in the Lonsdale Mill, which was built in 1901. No one was on the ground floor when the accident happened, The Providence Journal reported.

Defedele was using the forklift to move metal shelving in the warehouse of a furniture and office equipment supplier when the accident happened. Fire chief Tim Griffin said Defedele, who was "really shaken up", was lucky to escape serious injury. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
